Ohtama

The Legend of Ohtama

Among the first people to visit the Evergreen area were members of the Arapaho Nation who came here on their annual hunts for buffalo and other game.

Old stories tell of a sacred pipe that was always carried ahead on their travels. The pipe-bearer would signal the beginning and end of the day’s journey. Each year the pipe-bearer would guide the tribe back to wildlife filled meadows and hills, to a place to watch the sunrise and sunset, to a very special place, here to Ohtama, the place of honor.

Let Ohtama be the beginning and end of your day’s journey.
